Symmetry: assessment of weight distribution

What is the Symmetry assessment?
When it comes to rehabilitation, understanding body balance and symmetry is crucial for progress. Our balance rehabilitation system Equio is designed to make balance assessments straightforward and insightful. With the Symmetry Assessment we focus on evaluating weight distribution between your left and right leg. This balance assessment can offer valuable data for both users and therapists, revealing areas where additional support or focus may be needed. Over time, tracking these results helps in mapping progress and tailoring exercises to improve overall stability and symmetry.
Let’s break down how it works and why it’s an essential tool for neurological patients and therapists alike.
Instructions
To start, position the Equio board with the front side facing the screen. The patient should stand on Equio, with their feet matching the position indicated on the screen. Once on the board, the patient must stand straight and get ready to begin the assessment.
Once we click “Start,” the patient will have to stand as still as possible during the short assessment. Equio is capturing how weight is distributed across the legs, which provides key insights into the patient’s balance.
Interpretation of the result
Once the assessment wraps up, Equio displays the results as a clear percentage of weight distribution across each leg.

For a visual aid, the system also shows a two-column bar chart representing the weight under each foot. This visualization is ideal for quickly understanding how balanced—or imbalanced—the user’s stance is.
